Rules & Policies

 

 

This handbook was written to help guide families and staff with open communication in an emergency pandemic. Rules and policies included are very fluid and may be adjusted based on the pandemic and emergency needs of our space and as needed by the State & Federal guidelines. We will follow all rules, regulations and requirements as well as recommendations of the local, state and federal government for the health and safety of children, students, families and staff.

GENERAL RULES
 

Play Kids is offering after school program. The program is held on weekdays at our location 33  Nassau Ave.

 

Openplay services are not offered for the time being. 

 

We are offering great and safe Birthday Parties with strictly enforced pandemic precautions.

​

ENTERING PLAY KIDS FACILITY - general rules
 

Admission to Play Kids facility is only upon advanced registration.
 

Parents/guardians and children will be asked to take off their shoes and wash/sanitize their hands upon arrival. We ask that when in the facility, parents/guardians respect the personal space of children and staff by standing at least 6 feet away. Wearing a face mask in the playspace is mandatory for adults.
 

Parents/guardians are asked to arrive and leave on time to allow Play staff to disinfect the playspace and toys for our next customers.
 

All parents/guardians will be asked to complete a health screening form upon arrival.
 

If parents/guardians need to speak with owners/directors they will be allowed to enter and asked to wash their hands upon arrival. We ask that no parent/guardian touch anything during this time.
 

Communication with staff if possible should be done via email or phone to allow social distancing. Our staff will keep all families updated and answer/address all the needs.
 

Hours of operation may change due to allowing proper staffing. Staffing during these times may be limited. 
 

No personal toys, blankets, etc. are allowed within the whole facility. 
 

Strollers (if needed) must be parked in the back hallway (please use a back entrance).

PLAY KIDS PROGRAMS

​

Well recognized and popular programs in your neighborhood. The PLAY community guarantees families a safe, clean, inclusive social environment and strictly enforced pandemic precautions.

​

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

After school program is a regular after school care that runs from 2:30-6 pm. 

​

Free school pick up options from PS31, PS34, PS110 and PS132 are available. 
 

The program is for ages 4-6 yrs old & 7-8 yrs old. 

​

Classes include Fitness, Science & Engineering, Art, Tennis, Martial Arts, Fun in French. 

​

ONE DAY DROP OFF CAMPS

Daily programs for children ages 4-8 years old when school is out.

​

RULES AND POLICIES

No personal items (blankets, toys, etc.) are allowed. Children should bring only the minimum items needed (like school bag, water bottle, snacks, lunch, etc.) in a disposable shopping bag. 

​

At drop off/arrival from the school pick up the child’s temperature will be taken with an infrared thermometer. Children with a temperature over 100.4will not be permitted to enter the building. Play Kids staff will contact parents immediately.

​

Parents/guardians will drop off and pick children up at the entrance door. Parents/guardians will not be allowed to enter the building for drop off or pick up. If parents/guardians need to speak with owners/directors they will be allowed to enter and asked to wash their hands upon arrival. We ask that no parent/guardian touch anything during this time.
 

Children will be escorted to the bathroom to wash their hands when they arrive at the Play Kids facility and when they’re picked up by parents/guardians.
 

The program must be booked in advance through our online platform.

Registration: first come, first serve basis. Registration and payment is performed on a monthly intallment basis. An enrollment commitment of at least 1 month is required. Tuition paid in installments or in full. 

​

Play Kids staff will take all measures to ensure clean and safe environment, with cleaning the facility and disinfecting toys and stuff as a daily routine.

​

If a child/parent has a confirmed positive with cough and a fever, we must close the center for 24-hours for proper cleaning and sanitizing of the center in accordance with the City of New York Board of Health. In that case, there will be no refunds. Customers will receive a credited gift card for days the facility will be closed.

​

If according to federal and government guidelines Play Kids will have to remain closed for a longer period of time, future monthly installments will be canceled or rescheduled. There will be no refunds for the amount paid for the current month. In that case, a credited gift card will be issued to cover the tuition for days the facility will be closed.

​

If a child becomes ill with COVID-19 symptoms while at Play the child will be immediately isolated from other individuals.
Play will contact the parent/guardian to inform them of the child’s illness and the child must be picked up within 30 minutes.
Play will review its COVID-19 illness Policy with the parent/guardian. Play will follow its COVID-19 Health Policy for confirmed cases of COVID-19 by contacting the New York State Department of Health for guidance. This may include closing a classroom at Play.

Parents/guardians must understand that during child’s participation at Play children may be exposed to the COVID-19 virus. These hazards and risks include, but are not limited to, the dangers of serious illness, death and possible transmission to others.
Parents/guardians must be aware of what is considered to be a high risk factor for the COVID-19 virus and assess their own risk factors and
make a decision regarding whether their children can safely attend Play programs.

​

Should Play Kids facility need to remain closed in accordance with state and federal guidelines, future sessions will be rescheduled. The current monthly payment will be issued as a credited gift card. The gift card credit will be estimated according to the days of closure. 

Non-refundable, non-transferable.

​

If you want to cancel any of our programs due to a child/parent in your family being tested and confirmed positive with COVID-19 we will consider your cancellation request. To proceed with your request we will kindly ask you to provide a confirmation letter from your primary care doctor.

​

BIRTHDAY PARTIES
 

Birthday parties are available on weekends. 
 

All parties will be considered as private. You and your guests will have access to the whole facility (party room, playspace, main dining area). At your booked time slot there won’t be any other customers but your guests.
 

All party guests must follow our rules and policies. 
 

There are 3 packages available: Basic (no decoration), Basic Plus (basic themed decoration), Ultimate (full decoration). For more details check our website.

PERSONAL ITEMS
 

Children should arrive in clean clothing. 
 

Children should bring only the minimum items needed (like water bottle, snacks, lunch, etc.) in a disposable shopping bag. Lunches/snacks should be packed in a lunch box to keep items cold/hot as needed. 
 

No personal toys, blankets, etc. are allowed within the whole facility. 
 

Strollers (if needed) must be parked in the back hallway (please use the back entrance).

ILLNESS POLICY AND MONITORING
 

Children will have their temperatures checked upon arrival. Any child with a fever of more than 100.4 must remain out of Play Kids for 72 hours after the fever has broken without fever reducing medications. We will not allow a doctor’s note for returning before the 72 hours. 
 

Any child/parent/guardian showing any concerning signs of a respiratory issue: excessive coughing, tugging in the chest, wheezing, shortness of breath, etc. will be asked to leave the facility and may not return for 7 days plus 3 additional healthy days and must be cleared by a medical professional. 
 

Children/parents/guardians with a cough and a fever will be required to be seen by a medication professional within 24 hours. Children/parents/guardians must remain out of the facility for 7 days, plus an additional healthy 3 days. Parents/guardians will be required to contact the owners within 24 hours to inform what the illness may be. 
 

If a doctor has cleared your child to attend sooner, the medical professional MUST state in writing that “Child name _________________________ was seen and was evaluated for ____________________________. The child does NOT have Covid-19 and is able to return to childcare without placing another child or an adult at risk”. We must also be informed if there is an alternate illness (cold, cough, fever, etc.) or diagnosis.
 

If a child or anyone at home or who was in direct contact with a parent/guardian of a child has a positive Covid-19, the family must inform Play Kids ASAP via email only. A child/family will be required to stay home for 14 days.

KEEPING HEALTHY
 

Play Kids will take every precaution for your child to stay healthy. Consistent hand washing and cleaning of the facility will be performed many times during the day. 
 

Cleaning & Disinfection of the whole playspace will be performed after each Open Play/Drop Off Open Play/Birthday Party as well as after closing every day. 
 

All customers (small and big) will be required to wash their hands frequently throughout the day. All adults are required to wear masks. 
 

We need your help in keeping our children and staff healthy. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to be open and honest with staff about any illness the child or parent/guardian may be experiencing. If we find that this is not the case, children/families will be not allowed to play in our facility.
 

We ask that all families practice social distancing. 
 

For the time being, Play Kids will care for children/families in accordance with the rules and guidelines of the state, federal and local government. 

​

CLOSING OF THE PLAY KIDS FACILITY
 

If a child/parent has a confirmed positive cough and a fever, we must close the center for 24-hours for proper cleaning and sanitizing of the center in accordance with the City of New York Board of Health.
 

If a health provider of a child or the parent has been informed that they may have Covid-19, the center will be shut down for 24 hours for proper cleaning and sanitization. 
 

If a child or parent is being tested for Covid-19, we ask that you communicate your result. If the test is negative, the center will stay open.  If the test is positive, the center will be closed for 24 hours for cleaning and sanitizing.
